Radon

Radon is a cancer causing radioactive gas. It is produced by the natural breakdown of uranium in the soil, rock and water. High levels of radon have been found in every state in the U.S. One in fifteen homes in the United States has radon levels above 4pCi/L, the EPA action level.

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States. Of the 155,000 lung cancer deaths annually in the United States, about twelve percent are due to radon exposure.

Radon gas can enter a home from the soil under the house through cracks in the concrete slab, floors or walls and through floor drains, sump pumps, construction joints, and crack or pores in the hollow-block walls.

Mitigation
Subterranean

Subterranean Termites live in colonies in the soil, building vertical tunnels that look like mud tubes above the ground level so that they can search for food. Because subterranean termites will die if exposed to air for an extended period of time, the tunnels provide protection from the elements, allowing workers to carry food to the nest. Subterranean termites can tunnel through cracks in concrete, so slab homes are not exempt from termites.

Advance
It's a revolution! Baiting is the most significant innovation to occur in subterranean termite control technology since the introduction of modern termite control chemicals in the 1950's.

Baiting vs. Barrier treatments

While barrier treatments only exclude termites from a structure with a chemical barrier, they do not suppress or eliminate termites. Termites are still able to probe for gaps in the barrier, and find a way into the structure.

There are several advantages to baiting for termite control but two are maramount. First, a termite bait actually supresses activity by a termite colony, there in reducing or eliminating the potential of the colony to attack the structure. Secondly, this process dramatically reduces the amounts of pesticide necessary for termite control.

Advance is superior to other baiting systems and methods. It represents a simplified approach to termite baiting, and resulting in an effective mitigation system.
